George Palmer is a Literacy Council tutor who teaches U.S. Citizenship to a group of English-as-a-Second Language students currently enrolled at Lakeshore Technical College (LTC). Palmer states, “Being a tutor and teaching citizenship provides opportunities for me to help others and to feel like I’m making a real and positive difference in other people’s lives.”
Professionally, Palmer is finishing up 22+ years with Plymouth Foam where, as Vice President, he was deeply involved in product and business development. He also taught motorcycle safety for 15 years at LTC, and currently teaches Firearms Safety as a Wisconsin Hunter’s Education Instructor and Concealed Carry classes for a private firm.
Outside of work, Palmer enjoys dabbling in many things including photography, crewing on racing sailboats on Lake Michigan, serving as senior warden at his church, and trap shooting. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Palmer has been in the Midwest since 1975. He and his wife Linda live in Kohler.
Palmer enjoys sharing what he knows with others, and reports the citizenship teaching experience has been particularly enjoyable. We are grateful to have George share his expertise as a new Board member.
